🏔️ Sapporo Teine Ski Resort | The best choice for beginner in Hokkaido
Sapporo Teine Ski Resort is a popular choice for many tourists looking to experience skiing in Hokkaido.
Fun facts about Teine
During the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, the Highland Zone served as the venue for alpine skiing events, hosting four technical events: men's and women's giant slalom, and men's and women's slalom. The Olympia Zone, meanwhile, housed the Olympic flame and served as the venue for five completions.
This ski resort boasts 15 ski runs suitable for skiers of all levels, from beginners to advanced, and features 9 cable lifts and chairlifts, making it one of the largest ski resorts in the Sapporo area.
As one of the largest ski resorts closest to Sapporo city center, it is very convenient to reach by taking a train and a shuttle bus from Sapporo Station, taking only about 40 minutes. This makes it ideal for a half-day or full-day trip.
Sapporo Teine Ski Resort is divided into the Olympia and Highland areas, featuring a 6-kilometer-long run that descends from the mountain peak to the base, allowing even beginners to safely enjoy the thrill of skiing. With numerous gentle slopes and consistently good snow conditions, it's an ideal choice for beginner skiers and families. In fact, most of Snoway Academy's ski lessons in Sapporo are held at this resort, precisely because of its safety and suitability for all skill levels.

Course information
📌 It is recommended that all participants have similar skill levels.
It is recommended that students in the same class have similar skill levels, as this ensures a smooth learning process. If there are significant differences in skill levels, some students may end up waiting for others, which can hinder progress. For safety reasons, the instructor will focus more on students with lower skill levels.
📌 Class schedules for adults 👨🦱 and children 🧒
Snoway Academy welcomes families to participate in our ski lessons together! Since adults and children learn in different ways, separate classes usually lead to better learning outcomes. However, if you would like your family to experience skiing together, we are happy to accommodate that as well. For safety reasons, the instructors will focus primarily on the children, ensuring they learn safely and have fun, while allowing adults to enjoy the lesson as well.

Questions
Please refer to the following FAQ. For any other questions, please contact us via LINE/WhatsApp/Email.
FAQ
What do beginners need to prepare for skiing/snowboarding?
Most ski rental shops only offer rentals for skis, boots, jackets, pants, and helmets. Therefore, please bring your own personal gear such as gloves, goggles, padded pants, knee pads, wrist guards, face masks, ski socks, base layer clothing, and mid-layer thermal wear, etc.
Does the lesson price include the ski pass and ski equipment rental fees?
The course fee is stated in Japanese yen and includes Japanese consumption tax (10%). This fee covers only the tuition; it does not include lift tickets, ski/snowboard equipment rental, lunch, travel insurance, etc.
Will the instructor help us with renting ski equipment?
Staff at most ski equipment rental shops are very experienced, so we recommend that students rent their equipment in advance to maximize their time on the slopes for practice. If needed, instructors can also assist with rentals; however, the time spent renting equipment will be included in the lesson time.
How many days of training would you recommend for a complete beginner?
We recommend at least one day. Everyone's athletic ability is different. Generally speaking, to learn basic snowboard turns (S-turns) or parallel turns on skis, we recommend at least 2-3 days of practice.
If I have no skiing experience, will the one-day course only involve skiing on the practice slopes?
Snoway recommends scheduling at least two days of lessons. Everyone has different abilities, so the pace of the lessons will be adjusted according to the individual student's progress. A two-day course will include practice on beginner slopes and instruction on using the ski lifts, allowing you to experience the joy of skiing while learning, rather than just repeatedly falling and getting back up on a practice slope. For more details, please contact our customer service.
Can children attend the class? Can they take the lesson together with adults?
For children aged 4 to 8, Snoway recommends one-on-one lessons to learn basic skiing/snowboarding skills. Skiing lessons can begin at age 4; snowboarding lessons at age 6. Children over 8 can participate in group lessons with adults. Please note: Children's physical abilities and learning progress may differ from adults. Snoway is a ski school specializing in beginner and family-oriented ski/snowboard lessons. Our family-oriented programs focus on making learning to ski/snowboard fun and enjoyable. Our professional instructors will patiently guide students step by step. Progress is generally faster with skis than with a snowboard, which requires more time to master.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via LINE or WhatsApp or Email.
Can the whole family attend the class together?
Snoway specializes in family-friendly skiing experience programs. Please contact us for information on preparation details and itinerary suggestions.
Can pregnant women attend lessons?
Skiing is inherently a risky sport, so we cannot accept pregnant women as students.
Do I need to wear a helmet?
Snoway Academy is a ski school that prioritizes safety. For safety reasons, we strongly recommend that all students wear helmets, both during lessons and during their free skiing time.
Where can I store my personal belongings/backpack during class?
During the lesson, students only need to bring essential items such as a copy of their passport, a mobile phone, some cash, and a credit card (for purchasing ski passes and lunch). We recommend storing other items or your backpack in a locker at the ski resort. Please note: Do not keep your mobile phone in your inner chest pocket. Snoway instructors are very helpful. If you need assistance, please ask the instructor on the day of your lesson.
Are there any break times during class?
The full-day course includes a one-hour lunch break. Before the class begins, the instructor will briefly outline the day's program and discuss the lunch break time. Students can also request a break during the class if needed, depending on their physical condition. Our attentive instructors will regularly monitor the well-being of each student.
Can I learn both snowboarding and skiing at the same time?
Only one type of lesson
Do I still need to apply sunscreen when skiing in winter?
The reflection of ultraviolet rays on snow is higher than normal, so it's strongly recommended to apply sunscreen on sunny days!
